Armada Swimmers Head to Short Course Nationals

The Armada athletes will be joining the top American swimmers, including members of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Swim Team, NCAA Championship swimmers and International stars.  Among the swimmers they will be competing against are Olympic gold medalists Garrett Weber-Gale and Peter Vanderkaay, Swimmer of the Year, Rebecca Soni and American record holder Katie Hoff. Collegiate teams will be present from USC, the University of Michigan, UC Berkeley, Stanford and many others.

Brennan, one of the many talented Armada distance swimmers, will be competing in the 500 Free, 200 Fly, and 1650 Free. Brennan holds team records in all four events.  Kirstie will compete in the 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 Fly, and 200 Back.  Kirstie placed third in the same meet last year and has high expectations for this yea's event. Samantha Shellem and Jessica Marsh are qualified in the same distance events: the 200, 500 and 1650 free.  Both have competed succesfully at the National level for the past two years.

The meet will take place at the Weyerhaueser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. Footage from the meet will air nationally on NBC on Saturday, December 12 at 5 p.m.

Nikki Chang and Jessica Marsh will be competing at Ohio State’s remarkable new aquatic Center, host to the NCAA Championships for 2010.  The Junior meet follows one week after the National Championship.  The meet draws the best 18 and under swimmers in the country together and is expected to be incredibly fast this year.  Nikki Chang joins the Armada's remarkable group of distance swimmers as one of our most promising and, like her teammate, will compete in the 200 free, 500 free and the 1650 free.
